Chest pain is a symptom of a wide range of medical conditions, including heart attack, angina, pneumonia, pleurisy, pulmonary embolism, GERD, muscle strain, and anxiety. It can range from a dull ache to a sharp, stabbing sensation and can be localized to one area of the chest or spread to the arms, back, neck, or jaw. It is important to seek medical attention if chest pain is accompanied by shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or nausea.
