Viral warts are caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). They are small, fleshy growths that can appear on the hands, feet, or other areas of the body. They are usually painless, but can be itchy or uncomfortable. They can spread from person to person through direct contact, such as touching or shaking hands. Treatment options include topical creams, freezing, or laser therapy.
