Description

1-2-Dichloroethane is an organic compound with the chemical formula C2H4Cl2. It is a colorless, volatile liquid with a sweet, chloroform-like odor. It is used as a solvent in the production of plastics, paints, and varnishes, and as a degreasing agent in the metal industry.

1-2-Dichloroethane is toxic when inhaled, ingested, or absorbed through the skin. It can cause irritation to the eyes, nose, throat, and lungs, as well as dizziness, headache, nausea, and vomiting. Long-term exposure can lead to liver and kidney damage, and can also cause anemia, central nervous system depression, and reproductive problems.
