Description

1-Androstenedione (1-AD) is a steroid hormone produced naturally in the body. It is a precursor to testosterone and is used as a dietary supplement to increase muscle mass and strength. It is also known as androst-1-ene-3,17-dione.

Toxic effects of 1-AD include increased risk of liver damage, increased risk of heart attack and stroke, increased risk of prostate cancer, increased risk of male pattern baldness, and increased risk of acne.

Associated brand names include Andro, Andro-Diol, Andro-Estro, Andro-Gel, Andro-Max, Andro-Plex, Andro-Test, Andro-X, Androderm, and AndroGel.
