Ethinamate is a sedative-hypnotic drug used to treat anxiety and insomnia. It is a central nervous system depressant that works by slowing down the activity of the brain and nervous system. It is also known as meprobamate and is available under the brand names Equanil, Miltown, and Meprospan.
Common side effects of ethinamate include drowsiness, dizziness, confusion, headache, blurred vision, dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, constipation, and difficulty urinating. More serious side effects may include depression, suicidal thoughts, and difficulty breathing.
