Mescaline is a naturally occurring psychedelic alkaloid of the phenethylamine class, found in certain cacti such as the peyote cactus, the San Pedro cactus, and the Peruvian torch cactus. It is known for its hallucinogenic effects similar to those of LSD and psilocybin.
Toxic effects of mescaline include nausea, vomiting, dizziness, confusion, anxiety, paranoia, and psychosis. It can also cause increased heart rate, blood pressure, and body temperature.
