Norfenfluramine is a synthetic drug that was used as an appetite suppressant in the late 1990s. It was a derivative of the drug fenfluramine, which was used to treat obesity. Norfenfluramine was found to have serious side effects, including heart valve damage, pulmonary hypertension, and increased risk of stroke. It was withdrawn from the market in 1997.
