Description

4-Deoxypyridoxine (4-DP) is a toxic substance that is a synthetic analog of the vitamin B6. It is an inhibitor of the enzyme pyridoxal kinase, which is responsible for the conversion of pyridoxal to pyridoxal phosphate, an essential cofactor for many enzymes involved in amino acid metabolism. 4-DP is toxic to humans and animals, and can cause neurological damage, including seizures, ataxia, and coma.
