Description

Dioxybenzone is an organic compound used as an active ingredient in many sunscreens and other cosmetics. It is a member of the benzophenone family of compounds and is used to absorb ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun. It is also used as a preservative in some cosmetics and personal care products.

Dioxybenzone is a potential endocrine disruptor and has been linked to reproductive and developmental toxicity. It has been found to be toxic to aquatic organisms and can accumulate in the environment.
