The clinical test for calcium acquired from a patient's serum is a serum calcium test. This test measures the amount of calcium in the patient's blood. The test is usually done as part of a routine blood test. The sample is obtained by drawing a sample of blood from the patient's arm or hand. The sample is then sent to a laboratory for analysis. The laboratory will measure the amount of calcium in the sample and report the results to the doctor.
