Description

Renal vein thrombosis (RVT) is a condition in which a blood clot forms in the renal vein, the vein that carries blood from the kidneys to the heart. RVT can cause pain in the abdomen, flank, or lower back, as well as nausea, vomiting, and fever. It can also lead to kidney damage, high blood pressure, and other complications. Treatment for RVT typically involves anticoagulant medications to prevent further clotting, as well as medications to reduce inflammation and pain. In some cases, surgery may be necessary to remove the clot.
