Description

Chronic kidney disease NOS (not otherwise specified) is a diagnosis given when a person has signs and symptoms of chronic kidney disease, but the cause of the disease cannot be determined. It is a diagnosis of exclusion, meaning that other causes of kidney disease must be ruled out before a diagnosis of chronic kidney disease NOS can be made. Symptoms of chronic kidney disease NOS may include fatigue, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, swelling of the feet and ankles, and high blood pressure. Treatment for chronic kidney disease NOS may include lifestyle changes, such as reducing salt intake and increasing physical activity, as well as medications to control blood pressure and reduce protein in the urine.
